Zamora 4-H News – Sept-Oct 2009 – By Mary Mast
Zamora 4-H is off to a great start this year. We had many new members come to our September and October meetings.  We have many fun activities and projects planned for this 4H year.  Our club is walking in the Miles for Meals Walkathon for Meals on Wheels on November 7 at the County Fair Mall.  This event helps to raise money for the Elderly Nutrition Program of Yolo County.   We are also in the process of planning an 80th Anniversary Celebration for Zamora 4H Club.  If you know someone who was in Zamora 4H and has old photos or information please contact Mary Mast @jacmast@aol.com.

Willow Oak 4-H News - September 2009 – By Lauren Millang
It was great to see everyone at our first meeting! We had a huge turnout and are pleased to report that we have many new members joining our club! The officers have been hard at work to help the club get off to a good start with our first club meeting that was held on September 14th. Many things were discussed at our first meeting: online enrollment, Willow Oak 4-H website, project signups, event signups and recognition of last year’s project meetings. The Jacobs and White families will be hosting our Halloween Party at our next meeting on October 12th. Please remember to wear your costume and bring a decorated (not carved) pumpkin. The pumpkins will be judged and donated to a convalescent hospital. Officer applications are available for Refreshment Chair. Please contact Stacy Millang if you are interested at 662-5575 and come prepared to give a short speech at the next meeting.

Please feel free to check out our new website on Shutterfly! Important information, calendar of events and project information will be updated regularly. If you have photos you would like to upload please contact Laura Defty (681-2701) or Stacy Millang (662-5575).

Clever Clover Club News, 5/25/09 - by Avery Campbell
Thank you to all who beat the heat and helped with the Yolo County Historical Society’s May Festival Bake Sale. It was a big success. We raised $246 for the Yolo County Historical Society.  I wouldn’t have been able to do it all without everyone who baked and the help of Arianna Garcia, Isabel Barichievich and Ruby Peterson.  This is an annual event and opportunity for all 4-H clubs to participate in community service. See you next year at the May Festival.

Geology ID Test at State Field Day, 6/24/09 - by Joel Berke
I went to State Field Day in May and did a small contest:  a Rock ID test containing 10 rocks plus two bonus questions.  We had 85 people take the test and the highest score was 80%.  It was really fun to test the people and watch them think for a long time before they did their answers.  The next time I hope I can do a bigger rock ID test.  State Field is a nice day for presentations but there are also a lot of stands where you can play games and look at stuff, like bugs, a plant test, games and geology.  Hope to see you there next year!

Willow Oak Club News, December by Lauren Millang
We would like to welcome our new members and families to Willow Oak 4-H. It is nice to see growth in our club! Thank you to all who brought homemade cookies or brownies to our November meeting.  They were delicious!

The Tassone Family chaired the Thanksgiving food basket/canned food drive and 225 cans were donated in total! Thank you to all of the members who contributed cans and a huge thank you to the Tassone Family for doing an excellent job with this activity. The Tassone Family is also helping with our December canned food drive and gifts to a family in need.  Please remember to bring canned food items to our next club meeting on December 14th.   If you signed up to bring a gift for the family please bring it as well to our next club meeting.

The Christmas Parade is December 12, 2009.  The Phipps/Teague Family will be chairing this event.  We still need a trailer so please contact us if you can loan us a trailer for the day.

The Swine Group will be chairing the Christmas Caroling event this year.  We will be singing at
St. JohnsRetirementVillage at 5:45 pm on Dec. 18, 2009.  This is a wonderful way to spread some holiday cheer to the older folks in our community.  Come and join us for singing and hot chocolate afterwards!

Best wishes to all 4-H members and their families for a wonderful holiday season!
